Adventure Holidays in Spain: Top Trips for Thrill Seekers

Adventure Holidays in Spain

Spain has plenty to offer anyone looking to spice up their holiday with some rather daring activities.

Famous for its vibrant cities and party islands, tourists flock to Spain to let their hair down rather than embark on an adventure holiday. Disregard it at your peril though, as it’s got enough to please even the most seasoned thrill seeker. From surfing to hiking and everything in between, there’s something for everyone – no matter how daring you’re feeling! So if you’re thinking of booking the trip of a lifetime, here are some Spanish destinations to get the adrenaline flowing.

Catalonia

Catalonia is one of the most beautiful parts of Spain, with awesome beaches and towering mountains. Of course, all of that incredible scenery means that there’s plenty of fun to be had in the great outdoors. A Catalonia adventure break will give you the chance to experience all the region has to offer. Mountain biking through forests, canoeing through waterfalls and abseiling down cliff faces are just some of the activities you can look forward to. If you do fancy a night out on the town, head to Barcelona, the Catalan capital.

Fuerteventura

Spain boasts many incredible surfing locations. Arguably the best of those is Fuerteventura. The warm climate coupled with cooler Atlantic winds makes for great surfing conditions in the morning and late afternoon – so it’s perfect for both early birds and night owls. These heavy, uncrowded waves are the reason that the second largest of the Canary Islands is considered one of the best places in Europe for a surfing break. Surfing aside, the island is also home to many museums and boasts a vibrant culinary scene.

Majorca

For cyclists, Majorca is something of a dream destination. The island’s varied landscapes of hills, plains and mountains means make for exciting, challenging rides – and right now, the island is more popular than ever. A cycling break will allow you to take in the stunning scenery of unspoiled Central Majorca as well some of the islands most famous destinations – the beaches. It goes without saying that Majorca isn’t just about cycling though. There are some incredible historical attractions to discover too, as well as a theme park and a bustling shopping district.

Stay Covered

Of course, any holiday wouldn’t be complete without the right cover. Taking out some Spanish travel insurance means that you’ll be able to enjoy your adventure holiday without any distractions. That means surfing, abseiling and cycling to your heart’s content; safe in the knowledge that if anything were to go wrong, you’d be covered against any medical costs – although always check that the activities you are planning are covered by your policy. You’ll also be protected against things like loss of property and cancellation too. So there’s really nothing that can hold you back if you’re fully covered!

Where will you choose?

There are plenty of other breaks out there, but these three manage to offer thrilling activities while showing off Spain in all of its breath-taking glory. So whether you’re a novice or someone who pushes themselves further with every holiday, Spain is the perfect place to head to for a little adventure. For those who aren’t as daring, there are plenty of other things to do as well. That’s the great thing about Spain – it really does have something for everyone.

  • Beautiful article with magnificent pictures. I have been to Mallorca and I just fell in love in its ravishing beaches, azure views, remote mountains and soulful hill towns. On the coast, bistros keep flavors clean, bright and simple, serving the catch of the day with big sea views. It’s unforgettable.
