I won’t be exaggerating if I say that our stay in Rome wouldn’t be the same without Retrome– a tastefully designed apartments a few blocks away from the Colosseum.
Thanks to its convenient location, spacious rooms and retro vibe we were able to enjoy Rome even more than we expected. Here’s what I’m talking about:
Convenient Location:
Retrome Urban Retreat is located literally around the corner from the Colosseum – on Marco Aurelio street 47/C. The neighbourhood has a few supermarkets, lovely cafés, several restaurants, a pharmacy, gelateria, rent-a-bike place and even a hardware store, just in case. We received a map of every place in the area which was quite useful.
Moreover, we didn’t have to use any public transportation to get around in Rome. All three days we were just walking and the Colosseum was our starting point. We didn’t have to get up too early in the mornings to start our sightseeing walks, we had plenty of time to just go back to our apartment in the afternoon and rest before heading back to the city in the evening. It was just perfect.
Spacious Rooms:
Retrome has a few aparments in its Rome location. You can see them all here. We stayed in the QUAD RETRO APARTMENT SUITE. Two big and comfortable beds, small patio and enough space for our messy girl souls… what else could we ask for?
The kitchen was a big plus. We were able to cook by ourselves some pasta for dinner, some breakfasts and lunches when needed. The coffee was an absolute hit! Made in an old-school coffee maker, it was just the right thing we needed in the mornings.

Retro Vibe and Authentic Experience:
Retrome’s goal is to make their guests feel more like home. That’s why they don’t go for the typical hotel room. All the furniture is second hand or from vintage shops… I couldn’t deny the coziness of the apartment. The “reception” also give you a retro feeling. Not to mention the retro music played there – you can check it on their Spotify Playlist.
After our 3 epic days in Rome, I’m more than happy to recommend Retrome for your choice of accommodation in the heart of Rome. It is just 3 minutes away from the Colosseum, 20 minutes from Termini Station, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. We also walked to Vatican which took us around 35-40 minutes.
