If you are planning a trip to Bansko – the ski capital of Bulgaria, you will be surprised by all the activities and things you can do in this small mountain town. Putting the winter sports aside, you can go hiking, mountain biking, enjoy a picturesque train ride…
But among many other things to do in Bansko, your accommodation can also be more than just a place to sleep. That’s what Aparthotel Lucky Bansko prove to me when I spend 3 days in the ski capital of Bulgaria this October.
So if you are looking for a spa hotel in Bansko, here are some of the reasons why the 5-star Aparthotel Lucky is a good choice:
Swimming pools & SPA paradise
The greatest thing about Lucky Bansko is probably that its big SPA center and the many mineral pool makes it an excellent spa hotel in Bansko. If I wasn’t in a mission to explore the town more, I would’ve probably spend my whole holiday in there.
With more than 28 functions, procedures and modern equipment, you can spoil yourself as much as you want. The chlorine-free bio swimming pool with temperature of 33 degrees can easily become your favourite place. For me, the hot pool with salt from the Dead Sea right next to it was even a better choice.
Several saunas, jacuzzi, shock bath, solarium and even an ice room that reaches -18 degrees are waiting for you in the SPA center, too. Among the various types of body massages, there is also an opportunity to enjoy the famous Garra Rufa fish massage.
The Relax zone built with Himalayan salt bricks is the place to be for a calm and peaceful relaxation time. It is said that 50 minutes of therapy in a salt hall is equal to 4-hour walk in a pine forest.
Cozy rooms
There are 67 studios, 47 apartments and one President’s apartment at Lucky Bansko. I stayed at Studio Lux – a cosy and spacious room, big bathroom and convenient kitchenette. The great internet connection is also worth mentioning.
The price of the room includes also the use of the swimming pools and the ice room, steam bath, sauna, contrast showers, Technogym fitness center and the relax zone. Rich breakfast, ski wardrobe and shuttle to the center upon request are also included.
Various restaurants & food choices
There are various restaurant and food choices in Lucky Bansko. The breakfast was served at Le Bistro – plenty of choices, fresh meals and
- Le Bistro – cosy and modern restaurant for breakfast and dinner.
- Leonardo – genuine Italian cuisine and wide variety of wines, located just outside the hotel.
- Fondue Restaurant – Alpine specialties from the Swiss and French mountain cuisine (works from November 15th until March 31st).
Moreover, another great restaurant in Bansko – Banski han, offering traditional Bulgarian meals, is located just 5 minutes away from the hotel. So one thing is for sure – you will no be left hungry during your stay in Bansko.
Active holiday
As I mentioned before, Lucky Bansko offers more than just a place to sleep. What I love about the hotel is that it offers variety of options for an active holiday with a focus on healthy lifestyle. Some of the programs you should keep an eye on are:
- Ayurveda Retreat – the Indian system for healthy, happy and long life is available in Lucky Bansko in the form of courses that last from 10 to 25 days. The program include treatments and therapies for keeping the good health conditions or even for treating health disorders.
- Lucky Fit – a program for weight loss without starving.
The program includes healthy eating as well as many activities – hiking, yoga, trainings, etc. Lucky Fit is also good for effective anti-stress and detox treatment. It focuses on gaining healthy habits and losing weight in a healthy way. Besides the standard weight loss activities as aerobics and gymnastics, the program also includes various evening entertainments. These can be Latin or Bulgarian folk dances that boost the good tone and mood.
I had the chance to talk with the supervisor of Lucky Fit program who told me some of the best parts of the course. What made me a great impression was that there are regular discussions and lectures aiming to provide clear understanding about how to live a healthy life. Attention is given to different topics such as how to reduce bad habits and create good ones; how to minimize the stress of the upcoming changes in the body; etc. It is also important that after joining the weight loss program, participants learn how to make their own regime, based on what have been learned and practiced in the program.
- Lucky Kids – children language camp with activities and lessons for 14 days in Bansko.
- Escape Rooms – there are two escape rooms in Bansko that are part of Hotel Lucky but are open for outside guests too. They work only during the winter months.
- Aqua Complex – an open air aqua complex Leonardo with two swimming pools and an exquisite Italian restaurant.
Impeccable service
The staff at Aparthotel Lucky Bansko will make you feel welcome from the first step in the hotel. From the lobby, through the reception desk and corridors, all the way to the restaurants and SPA center – everywhere you see a staff member, you get a smile and a warm greeting.
Moreover, the hotel offers free shuttle service to the Gondola station every 15/30 minutes in the winter. Keeping in mind that most of the guests visit Bansko for the great ski and snowboard conditions, this is extremely important for the hotel’s guests.
