With its splendid location, totally fantastic climate and beautiful nature, Sardinia is by all means a real piece of paradise on Earth. This Italian resort brings heaven to your whole body and mind when you just think of it.
Let me get this straight: I haven’t been to Sardinia. But, as you may know, I love creating to-do lists of the destinations I really want to visit and Sardinia is definitely one of those places.
Along with my lists of epic adventures to have Corsica, top reasons to visit Iceland and the 5 once-in-a-lifetime adventures to have in Europe, my bucket list is rapidly growing but I am sure that 2016 will bring me the joy to experience all these destinations.
Enough said, here are the top 5 places to see in Sardinia which will make you fall in love with the island.
1. Santuario & Basilica di Nostra Signora di Bonaria
Let`s start with something intimate, old, religious and mysterious. I present you Santuario & Basilica di Nostra Signora di Bonaria – one of the most beautiful basilicas in Italy. It is located right on the top of Bonaria hill and you can get there by starting your route from Via Roma.

The temple is a spectacular pilgrimage site and it shows one giant wooden Nostra Signora di Bonaria statue, which gathers dozens of legends that are spread among the local people. You need to hear them all with your own years, though!
2. Zuddas Caves
On the other side of the island are the magical caves you can see in different shades and with weird shapes and even more weird inside routes. According to the preserved historic documents and the latest researches, the caves are about 600 million years old. If you want to see them from the inside, prepare for 500 depth!
3. Ruins of Nora
Ruins of Nora represents one of the most significant Roman archaeological treasures among the entire Italy. It is situated in Capo di Pula.

Nora by the way, is a landmark in the region, too, and it represents the oldest town in Sardinia. Here, you can enjoy not only the view and the mystery of ancient civilizations, who built the city, but also to sense the first steps of Italian culture in general…
4. Molentargius Natural Park
Please, don`t miss it, because you`ll fall in love with it! The park is devoted to the beloved pink flamingos, which habit the entire area right next to the beach and the little mini islands around it. Perfect for romantic walk, Molentargius Natural Park is one of the best places to see in Sardinia.

5. Cittadella dei Musei
Cittadella dei Musei is not a single museum, but a whole complex of museums in Cagliari municipality! Here are the best galleries and a fascinating display of Far Eastern artifacts that have been discovered nearby. The museum complex shows many ruins and historical pieces from 19th century, so you can see some great masterpieces from Sardinia`s region, as well!

This list is definitely going to be my “best friend” when I visit the beautiful island of Sardinia. Of course, getting there might be hassle but fortunately you can easily hop on the ferries to Sardinia from many ports of Italy. Summer 2016, here I come!

I think you can find a destination interesting even if it’s not its strongest season. As long as you are open to see and experience something different and appreciate it 🙂
