The culinary scene in Sofia is one of the things that surprises every visitor of the Bulgarian capital. Many people don’t really expect that, but the city is home to a lot of modern and vibrant as well as traditional restaurants that offer quality cuisine for affordable prices.
The following 7 restaurants in Sofia are my to-go choices for every food lover out there. Get your appetite ready and visit one… or all *wink, wink* of them:
1. Made in Blue
6 Yuri Venelin str. | facebook.com/madeinbluesofia
My absolute favourite restaurant in Sofia is Made in Blue. Its cosy setting, delicious seasonal menu and warm staff are the things a love the most about it. The cuisine is modern European and many vegetarian choices are available, too.
The 3-flour building is a great place for a date or just a meal with friends. Make sure to book your place in advance because this is one of the restaurants in Sofia which fills up pretty fast every night.
2. Social Cafe Bar & Kitchen
16 Vitosha blvd. | www.socialcafe.bg
Social Cafe is perfect for lunch or dinner with exquisite cuisine, for a work meeting or a coffice. But it is also great for hanging out with friends for a cocktail after work….With authentic Italian cuisine in a buzzing atmosphere, Social Cafe can easily become your favourite restaurant in Sofia.
The name of the place says all, actually. Social Cafe Bar & Kitchen is located on the most social place in Sofia – Vitosha boulevard. Despite its central location, the atmosphere inside is absolutely cozy and tranquil.
3. Soul Kitchen
13 Kokiche str. | www.soulkitchen.bg/en
This is one of those places that you walk in and instantly fall in love with. Every detail in Soul Kitchen is made with care and love. The place is so cozy that it feels more like being home than out in public. Soul Kitchen uses organic and fresh products and offer variety of vegan and vegetarian delicacies.
4. Shtastlivetsa
27 Vitosha blvd. & 22 San Stefano| www.shtastliveca.com
It may take you a few hours until you will be able to pronounce the name the right way, but it will take you just a few seconds to fall in love with this restaurant. The rich decoration typical for European homes from the 30-s and the feeling of cosyness it gives you compliment the amazing and modern menu.
The great news is that there are 2 restaurants in Sofia and 3 more in other cities in Bulgaria – Veliko Turnovo and Stara Zagora. And their Instagram account is absolutely inspiring.
5. Pastorant
16 Tzar Asen I str. | www.pastorant.eu
Delicious Italian cuisine and intimate setting, Pastorant is one of my favourite restaurants for pasta in Sofia. Besides Italian food, the restaurant also offers Greek and Mediterranean choices, as well as some seafood options.
6. Wagamama / CLOSED
7-9 Uzundjovska str | www.wagamama.bg
If you’re a fan of Asian food, Wagamama is your place. Part of a European chain restaurants, Wagamama is bringing the best flavours of Asia to the center of Sofia. Absolutely vibrant but still cosy place for a lunch or dinner out in Sofia.
7. Farmer’s
23 Shishman str. | www.farmers.bg
Simple and delicious, Farmer’s offers some of the best soups, salads and sandwiches in Sofia. In my opinion, it is the cosiest place for burgers in town. I absolutely love their selection of healthy and natural menu options.
