Experience Sardinia with International Summer Week – A trip to remember (and repeat)

I never thought I will enjoy spending time with 150 people so much. But when it comes to a gorgeous place, wonderful idea, meeting people of all ages and interests, there is no doubt that this was one of those experiences that I am already thinking to repeat in 2019.

Update, 2019: International Summer Week is coming on August 3-10 in 2019. Check out the Facebook event and their website for more info.

So if you are also looking for a good reason to explore Sardinia, take a look at International Summer Week.

What is International Summer Week – Sardinia

International Summer Week (ISW) is a week-long trip in Sardinia, Italy combining cultural experiences, sun & sea time, international friendships and fun nights out.

It is organized for more than 19 years, every summer, in the beautiful island of Sardinia. The event usually takes place in the first week of August every year.

The base of the participants was Hostel Marina in Cagliari – the biggest city in the island and capital of the region.

Who are the participants

ISW gather together more than 150 people from all over Europe and the rest of the world. This year (2018) there were participants from 42 countries, from 19 to 69 years old.

There were people from Spain, Czech Republic, Romania, Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Denmark, Sweden, France, UK, Germany, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Australia, Jordan, Slovakia, and many more.

The group of participants at International Summer Week is so diverse that everyone will find a friend during the event. I was pleasantly surprised that the trip is not only for young people. Moreover, to ensure that everyone has a place on the trip, the participants go through an application process. They are carefully selected to fit the idea of the project.

Most of the people I met during the trip were coming back for number of times every summer. Other group of friends used Sardinia and ISW as a meeting point and a reunion. So, many participants were coming in groups or as couples.

But there were also solo travellers, like me, who came to meet international friends and explore Sardinia. There were also people joining for the first time, who are probably coming back next year too.

Experiencing Sardinia – Italy

For me, one of the best things was the the program of International Summer Week. It is a good mix of visiting amazing beaches, having great cultural and local experiences and workshops, tours around the island, eating good food, and having fun times out with all participants.

Besides visiting wonderful beaches almost every day, we had plenty of other experiences – boat ride, treasure hunt, pizza night, Global Village, pool parties, cliff jumping… Here are some photos to inspire you to visit to Sardinia:

Every year is different and special, which is why people keep returning for International Summer Week.
